So, here comes D&D Next (effectively AD&D 5th Edition). Should I be hopeful? Am I supposed to be excited? Will I need to run out and buy the core books as soon as possible? I don't know really. I want to be excited. I want to find that Wizards of the Coast has learned its lesson and gone back to making a real roleplaying product that will open up people's imaginations instead of trying to compact them up in a tidy little box. I want to rediscover an old friend that has some new things to share but still plays and feels like a real imagining of people we couldn't really be doing things we only see in movies or our mind's eye when reading books.
Has anyone played in the Beta test of D&D Next? How does it feel? Does it play smoothly and fairly? Does it allow for unlimited tweeking by DMs and players? Should we be chomping at the bit while we wait for this to be released? Someone, tell me if I should be saving some cash up to buy the core o
